Visiting Tips

Plan Your Trip. View the upcoming calendar of events.
Avoid the Crowds. Arrive early during weekdays (before 11 am) or late (after 2 pm, Monday through Thursday).
Skip Long Lines. Purchase tickets in advance. Use your member login to access member pricing online.
Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the café.

Enjoy free general admission on Fridays, 2 – 5 pm and Sundays, 10 – 11 am.
Members enjoy FREE general admission to NYSCI and discounts on special events.
NYSCI is closed on Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

Long Island Expressway (LIE) westbound, or Grand Central Parkway westbound to LIE westbound. Exit the LIE at 108th Street. Right on 108th Street. Right on 52nd Avenue to 111th Street. Left on 111th Street. Right at 49th Avenue into the New York Hall of Science entrance drive.

From Southern Long Island and Southern Queens:
Southern State Parkway westbound to Belt Parkway westbound. Belt Parkway to Exit 19 (Van Wyck Expressway/I-678 North). Take the Van Wyck north and merge onto the Grand Central Parkway West at Exit 10 – on the left – toward La Guardia Airport/Robert F. Kennedy-Triborough Bridge. Continue on the Grand Central to Long Island Expressway westbound. Follow directions, From Northern Long Island and Eastern Queens.

From Manhattan/Midtown Tunnel:
Long Island Expressway eastbound, staying in the right-hand lanes. Exit at 108th Street. Left on 108th Street. Right on 52nd Avenue to 111th Street. Left on 111th Street. Right at 49th Avenue into the New York Hall of Science entrance drive.

From Bronx/Westchester:
Cross the Whitestone Bridge, bearing right at the end onto the Whitestone Expressway. Exit onto Grand Central Parkway eastbound. Take exit 10, bearing right to follow the Midtown Tunnel signage. Right on Corona Avenue. Right on 111th Street. Right at 49th Avenue into the New York Hall of Science entrance drive.

From Brooklyn:
Brooklyn-Queens Expressway to Long Island Expressway eastbound. Stay in the right-hand lanes and exit at 108th Street. Left on 108th Street. Right on 52nd Avenue to 111th Street. Left on 111th Street. Right on 49th Avenue into the New York Hall of Science entrance drive.

From Robert F. Kennedy-Triborough Bridge:
Grand Central Parkway eastbound to Exit 10, bearing right to follow the Midtown Tunnel signage. Right on Corona Avenue. Right on 111th Street. Right at 49th Avenue into the New York Hall of Science entrance drive.

 

Parking

Parking is available in NYSCI’s private lot, except during the U.S. Open and World Maker Faire New York. There is a $12 parking fee for cars; $20 for buses on weekends, holidays and weekdays in the summer. Parking is free to Family Explorer, Family Premium and Family Pass members.

 

Cafe

Our dining partner, Butter Beans Kitchen, offers a selection of salads, sandwiches, Hale and Hearty soups, chicken wings, chicken tenders, beef patties, yogurt, bagels, muffins, chips, ice cream, and beverages. Butter Beans Kitchen is open Monday – Thursday, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm, Friday, 9:30 am – 4 pm, and weekends, 10 am – 5 pm. Please note: Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the café.

Subway:
Take 7 train to 111th Street Station. Walk three blocks south.

Bus
Q23 or Q58 to Corona Avenue and 108 Street. Q48 to 111 Street and Roosevelt Avenue.

 

ASTC Passport Program

NYSCI honors members of institutions participating in the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) Passport Program. 2 adults/4 children with photo ID and proof of home address within 90 miles of host museum. ASTC Passports are not accepted during World Maker Faire.

 

Strollers/Coats

Strollers are permitted. For your convenience, coats may be checked at our coat check area for a fee of $2 per item.
During World Maker Faire, items may be checked for $5 per item.

 

Wheelchairs

A limited number of wheelchairs are available.

By entering this public facility you are agreeing to let New York Hall of Science and all other news or media organizations use your photograph and/or likeness for any news or promotional purpose. No compensation will be given for the use of the photographs taken at NYSCI.
