NYSCI offers innovative professional development experiences for teachers of all grades including pre-service and after-school teachers.

Our goal is to help teachers infuse their classes with hands-on activities, scientific inquiry, strong content, science communication and literacy to strengthen, inspire and excite STEM teaching and learning.

Full STEAM Ahead Webinar Series

With over 10 years of experience delivering online programs, The New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) continues to support remote learning needs through a variety of high quality virtual educational programs. Join our monthly Full STEAM Ahead webinars as we share successful virtual learning strategies and resources that makes STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) come alive for students through in person or remote learning. 

Each one hour webinar is scheduled from 4-5pm and will be held via Zoom. The link will be provided one week prior to the webinar date to the email address submitted during registration.  Resources discussed in the webinar will be shared with participants after each webinar. Engaging Young Children With Autism
May 13, 4-5pm

Join NYSCI in building upon the unique strengths of early learners with autism and other developmental challenges to engage, participate and succeed within an online setting. In this webinar, we will discuss learning strategies to help them explore and discover the wonders of STEAM through hands-on sensory-sensitive activities.  Participants will also receive free online resources to help support their child’s literacy and science learning.

Small Space, Big Ideas: Making At Home
June 10, 4-5pm

Hands on learning doesn’t have to stop even though we may be working from home! In this webinar, explore how to use materials that can easily be found at home to conduct maker activities even in small spaces. These maker activities are designed for learners of all ages. Parents, as first educators, are welcomed to join. NYSCI’s Maker Space team will introduce strategies developed to successfully facilitate meaningful and fun maker activities online where the only limits are your imagination!

NYSCI’s online professional development programs enable teachers around the country to connect with NYSCI educators and one another. Participants engage in hands-on, easy to replicate science activities, develop teaching strategies, reflect on their own practice, and model the pedagogical skills that help communicate STEM concepts to students.
