Sunday, 9/22: People Power and Climate Change

  • 1:00pm, Auditorium: People Power and Climate Change: BRIGHTLINE Community Panel
    • We learned about initiatives in our community that are using STEM principles to address climate change, with initiatives spanning from Queens to the South Bronx.
    • Panelists:

    • Exclusive premiere of juried short films at NYSCI! Films for the Forest invites filmmakers from around the world to share the voices and stories of forests worldwide.
  • 2:00pm - 5:00pm, Central Pavillion: Mini Food Hall, In collaboration with Queens Together.

Tuesday, 9/24: Arts + STEM = Environmental Justice Power

  • 3:00pm, Viscusi Gallery: Launch Party: Immersive Rainforest Installation
    • Presented in collaboration with Rainforest Partnerships and OmniSpace 360. People experienced the power of the rainforest through the use of video projection mapping technologies.
  • 4:00pm, Terrace Garden: EARTHGANG visit to NYSCI's Garden
  • 5:00pm, Auditorium: A Conversation with EARTHGANG: Artists using Science to make a Difference
    • EARTHGANG is an American hip-hop duo from Atlanta, Georgia, composed of rappers Olu and WowGr8. Come hear from these two impactful artists as they talk about their journey of creating their foundation and mobilizing their fans in the fight for environmental conservation.
  • 6:00pm, Auditorium: Films for the Forest Screening Day 2. Followed by a light reception.

Wednesday, 9/25: Design, Make, Play

  • 11:00am, Auditorium: Films for the Forest Day 3 Screening
  • 11:00am - 4:00pm, Viscusi: Rainforest Installation. As well as daily conversations with Pablo Venegas, Rainforest Partnership's herpetologist!

Thursday, 9/26: NYSCI and CLIMATE CHANGE

  • 11:00am - 4:00pm, Viscusi: Rainforest Installation. As well as daily conversations with Pablo Venegas, Rainforest Partnership's herpetologist!
  • 2:30pm, Auditorium: "NYSCI and Corona: Stronger than the Storm" panel
    • Learn about NYSCI, local organizations, and government efforts around combating climate change. NYSCI leaders will be joined by experts and leaders from the Waterfront Alliance and the Mayor’s office of Climate and Environmental Justice’s program “Floodnet”

  • 4:00pm - 7:00pm, Rotunda: Queens Borough President’s Climate Expo. Queens Borough President Donovan Richards hosted his annual Climate Expo, highlighting Queens' resilience in the face of climate change and showcasing exciting green job opportunities.
  • 5:00pm - 10:00pm, Entire Museum: NYSCI Nights
    • Free admission to our historic Great Hall Terrace, delicious food from the vibrant Queens Night Market, engaging games, and special activities.
