NYSCI Announces PepsiCo R&D as Sponsor for “The Big Bubble Experiment”
New permanent exhibit delights and engages visitors in learning science through play
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on May 23 Celebrates PepsiCo’s Support
The leaders of the New York Hall of Science today proudly announced PepsiCo R&D as the sponsor for its popular new exhibit – “The Big Bubble Experiment.” The new exhibition, featuring PepsiCo’s bubly brand, encourages visitors to learn through joyful bubble play – experimenting with new ways to make and transform bubbles, and in the process, learn about fluids, surface tension, surfactants, elasticity and minimal surface structures.
René Lammers, Chief Science Officer at PepsiCo, and NYSCI trustee said, “We are delighted to sponsor ‘The Big Bubble Experiment’ at the New York Hall of Science, an engaging experience that introduces visitors to the wonders of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Bubbles are foundational in fields like chemistry and food science, among others, and we are excited to help individuals learn more about these fascinating subjects through this playful and immersive exploration.”
The exhibit encourages visitors of all ages to activate the science behind bubbles through blowing, stretching, popping, and looking closely. The exhibition includes ten exhibits, offering a variety of tools and methods for exploring bubble solution. They invite you to use your bubble insights, ask questions, work with others, try out new ideas, and follow your own playful, sudsy path.
Katie Culp, NYSCI’s Chief Learning Officer said, “Who doesn’t love bubbles? It’s amazing that simple substances like soap and water, or common phenomena like air moving through liquid, can produce such a marvelous array of bubbles in varying shapes, sizes, colors and textures. While bubbles are a source of joy and delight for people of all ages and backgrounds, bubble play also offers opportunities to experiment with variables that are foundational to STEM learning.”
NYSCI’s exhibition, The Big Bubble Experiment, invites NYSCI’s 400,000 annual school and family visitors to create, explore and understand bubbles in new ways. The exhibition reimagines and expands upon NYSCI’s classic bubbles table, and includes a variety of fun and fascinating bubble experiences that promote discovery and build connections to the science and math behind bubbles.
The exhibition aligns with relevant STEM Education concepts that include chemistry, geometry, and engineering design—providing the setting for enriching field trip workshops and demonstrations for students, as well as professional development for teachers.
