Innovation Institute (I2) is a program that engages high school students in the entire process of developing a product or program that addresses a need or value in our surrounding community.

Innovation Institute interns learn:

I2 is a program that introduces high school students to social entrepreneurship and engineering design. Participating youth observe and explore in NYSCI’s immediate neighborhood of Corona, Queens, to design, develop, test and fabricate products and programs that respond to local needs and values of the community.

From learning how to use analog and digital tools to observation techniques to gain a more insightful perspective, participants develop skills that help inform their product development process. Throughout this program, participants also engage with professionals that have taken their ideas to market, giving them an insider look of the design process.

At the end of the conclusion of this program, participants present their products at World Maker Faire, an annual event at NYSCI.
