NYSCI After Dark is an event series that allows adults an opportunity to enjoy the museum after hours and without younger museumgoers. Events are held from 7 – 10 pm and are geared for adults ages 21 and older.

NYSCI After Dark 2019 Schedule

February 7 – The Science of Sex
7 – 9:30pm
The Science of Sex is back and just in time for Valentine’s Day!
Join us for a night of fun and science around a topic we’re all interested in. There will be a cash bar, free Valentine’s chocolates, and treats available all night.
This is a unique event full of innovative thinking, seeing products and learning the science you might want to consider when evaluating sexual health. It’s NYSCI’s Valentine to you!
Learn things you don’t know, ask questions you’ve always wanted to ask, and get tips and guidance for the talks you might need to have (sooner than you think!) with the young people in your life. NYSCI has organized workshops and demonstrations with sex educators, authors and inventors who are dedicated to public education and helping normalize and improve sexual health and experiences from puberty to pleasure.
Participants must be age 21 or older. $15 per person. (Members: $10 per person.)

April 24 — Sustainable Spring Break Late
5 – 7pm
We are extending museum hours to allow for more family fun and exploration of our Sustainable Spring Break projects by current NYSCI Designers-in-Residence tackling climate change with alternative energy sources, planting practices and soil studies. Join us for the launch of Krystal Persaud’s Rainbow Power. Visit Marco Castro Cosio’s ice cream truck, which has been turned into a mobile garden with its green roof.
To sustain you through your play, our dining partner, Butter Beans, will have a pop-up stand.
Free with NYSCI admission.

May 18 — Maker Space May
4 – 6pm
Join us for an afternoon of tools, techniques, and drinks as we explore what’s possible when adults take over NYSCI’s Maker Space.
Ticket price TBA.

June 27 — Bug Bar + Cafe
7 – 9 pm
Join us for a night of entomophagy and delicious food and drink, curated by Brooklyn Bugs Chef, Joseph Yoon. Enjoy an array of culinary treats that all include bugs, while you learn about different cultural and sustainable practices that should endear you further to our many-legged friends.
Ticket price TBA.

July 20 — Apollo 11 50th Anniversary
