Become the ultimate survival expert. Test your survival skills. Learn how to build shelter in the forest, find water in the desert, stay warm in the extreme cold. Plus, learn water safety and emergency preparations.

Survival is an immersive exhibition that provides real-world, science-based techniques to prepare visitors of all ages for survival situations. An interactive, informative, and safe place to learn and test essential survival skills, Survival combines STEM concepts with hands-on challenges that teach the scientific principles behind key survival tactics. From the rainforest to the mountains, from extreme cold to extreme heat, this exhibition covers all the places you can learn to stay alive in.

Timed tickets are required to enter this exhibition. We encourage you to purchase tickets online ahead of your planned visit.

Following the Survival exhibition experience, visitors can participate in the Adventure Zone Ropes Course and Zip Line, where confidence and body mechanics are put to the test. Course obstacles teach balance, focus, coordination and concentration while building resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

Adventure Zone participants should be at least 49 inches tall, and are required to weigh between 35 – 275 lbs. We require loose-fitting clothing, closed-toe shoes, and long hair to be pulled back.
Survival costs $7 per person, plus NYSCI admission. (NYSCI Members: free.)
Fees for groups are $5 per person, plus group admission fees. Adventure Zone is not available for group bookings.
Survival is open:

  • Monday – Friday, 9:30 am – 5 pm
  • Saturday & Sunday, 10 am – 6 pm

Located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, NY, NYSCI is easily reached from the Grand Central Parkway, Long Island Expressway and the Bronx-Queens Expressway. Parking is available onsite.
