Join us for brainy comedy night where local scientists will attempt to be funny for the first time ever! Science Riot turns scientists into engaging speakers through immersive training in comedy writing and performance. The resulting showcase is an evening of laughter, learning, and libations where our newest cohort of local experts deliver 10-minute “late-night” comedy talks directly to real-life humans.

Starting at 6:30 pm, NYSCI welcomes ticket holders to enjoy a drink at the bar, which will be outside if the weather permits. Projects by some of NYSCI’s 2019 Designers-in-Residence will also be on view. After the show, attendees can grab a bite at the Queens Night Market, located in NYSCI’s parking lot. Attendees must be 18 years old or older. (Must be 21 or older to enjoy alcoholic beverages.)

Proceeds from your tickets help to ensure that this training remains free for science professionals. Science Riot, recently featured on NPR’s Here & Now, hosts regular programs in Atlanta, Birmingham, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Colorado Springs, Denver and New York City. They believe in the power of humor to connect with broad audiences, make difficult topics accessible, and humanize scientists without undermining the seriousness of their professions.

Doors open at 6:30 pm; event is from 7:30 – 9:30 pm.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here.
