See the winning images of the Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition, including Dr. Bram van den Broek’s first-place photo of a skin cell expressing an excessive amount of keratin (featured image above); Dr. Havi Sarfaty’s second-place photo of the flowering head of a plant; and Jean-Marc Bablian’s third-place photo of a living volvox algae that resembles Pac-Man. The images were selected from more than 2,000 entries from 88 countries.
