Computer Programming Through App Design

Learn how to utilize a free online platform, MIT APP Inventor, to teach students the fundamentals of app design and build computation thinking skills to support problem-solving across STEM disciplines. NYSCI Instructors will demonstrate pedagogical approaches for engaging students in app design projects that increase critical thinking and fosters creativity and innovation. Correlations to computer science standards and NYC Science Scope & Sequence will be made. No prior knowledge needed.

At the end of the PD enter a raffle for a chance to win a free tablet or chrome book! Additional giveaways will also be included for other participants.

This introductory course is recommended for teachers working with students in grades 5 – 8.

Lunch will be provided.
