School’s Out Innovation Camp 2015

Are you looking for a fun and educational adventure for your child during the school break? Sign up for School’s Out! Innovation Camp for a unique experience exploring concepts in science, technology and engineering through hands-on investigations. Each School’s Out! Innovation Camp includes interactive activities, exhibit exploration, a student certificate and a free student membership.

Camp grades run from Kindergarten to Grade 4.

Spring Innovation Camps 2015

Extreme Science Survivor (Grades 3 & 4)
April 6 – 10, 9 am – 3 pm
Students will investigate different extreme environments and create a survival plan and design tools that will aid in their survival. Campers will consider such questions as: What tools will you need to help you survive in this environment? What type of shelter will you design to help you brave the elements?
A mid-morning snack and lunch will be provided.
$350 (Members: $325)

Fab Food Lab (Grades 1 & 2)
April 6 – 10, 9 am – 3 pm
Become a food scientist and explore engineering and chemistry concepts while using your creativity and imagination to create recipes that enhance flavor. Learn about the phases of matter while making ice cream. And design the best packaging to keep foods safe and fresh while it is being transported from the factory or farm to the store.
A mid-morning snack and lunch will be provided.
$350 (Members: $325)

Summer Innovation Camps 2015

Mini Engineers (Grade K)
July 13 – 17, 2015, 9 am – noon
Students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills as they use their imagination and creativity to redesign and recreate their favorite toys or tools made for play. They will explore how to transform, recycle or reuse everyday materials into new objects to meet a specific function or just for play!
A mid-morning snack will be provided.
$225 (Members: $200)

Make It Move (Grades 1 & 2)
July 27 – 31, 2015, 9 am – 3 pm
Students in grades 1 and 2 will design amazing and unique vehicles that can move through air, space, land and water while learning the principles of air pressure, buoyancy, density and more. They’ll also participate in a series of mini challenges that explore force and motion to create the best vehicle for each scenario.
A mid-morning snack and lunch will be provided.
$350 (Members: $325)

Superhero Science (Grades 3 & 4)
July 27 – 31, 2015, 9 am – 3 pm
Students will use their imaginations to create their own superhero stories and design gadgets and costumes that will help their superheroes combat crime. They’ll also perform their own hands-on experiments to investigate the science behind some of their favorite superheroes and their superpowers.
A mid-morning snack and lunch will be provided.
