Design-Make-Play Innovation Camp

Are you looking for a fun and educational adventure for your child during the school break? Sign up for Design-Make-Play Innovation Camp for a unique experience exploring concepts in science, technology and engineering through hands-on investigations. Each Design-Make-Play Innovation Camp includes interactive activities, exhibit exploration, a student certificate and a free student membership. Camps are available for children in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Space is limited. Register early to avoid disappointment.

Please note: No refunds will be granted for absenteeism. All campers are required to attend their registered camp dates. No exceptions will be made for vacation travels. Please plan accordingly.

Superhero Science

Grades 3 – 4
April 25 – 29, 2016, 9 am – 3 pm
Students will use their imaginations to create superhero stories, and design gadgets and costumes that will help their superheroes combat crime. They will also perform their own hands-on experiments to investigate the science behind some of their favorite superheroes and their super powers. Includes a mid-morning snack and lunch.

Animal Habitats

Grade K
July 11 – 14, 2016, 9 am- noon
Kids will learn about animals and the habitats they live in during this weeklong summer camp. They’ll explore the diversity of life and the difference between mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish and birds. They’ll investigate food webs, life cycles and animal behaviors in an aquatic and a terrestrial environment. And they’ll design the best habitat for their favorite animal based on the characteristics and needs of that animal. Includes a mid-morning snack.

Waterworks – (FULL)

Grades 1 – 2
July 18 – 22, 2016, 9 am – 3 pm
Participants will explore the amazing properties of water through various hands-on activities. They’ll also investigate the different phases of the water cycle, create a filter to clean water, design solutions for bringing water to locations experiencing drought, and test the power of water in NYSCI’s outdoor Science Playground. Includes a mid-morning snack and lunch.

Natural Disasters

Grades 3 – 4
July 25 – 29, 2016, 9 am – 3 pm
Students participate in a series of design challenges that will help bring relief or prevent natural disasters. They’ll design relief aid packages that can be safely dropped from a high distance to deliver food and supplies. And they’ll learn how to support and protect buildings during earthquakes and engineer their own earthquake resistant buildings. Includes a mid-morning snack and lunch.
