January & February 2015 workshops:
Roll up your sleeves and get cooking! Through experiments and cooking from scratch, participants discover the science behind ingredients and then cook with them. Little molecular gastronomists will churn, shake, measure, mix, pour, knead, grate and most importantly, taste as they make their own homemade ice cream, dough, butter and much more.
Friday Afternoons in January and February: 3:30 – 5 pm
Cost for the four session series is: $60 (NYSCI members $50), $15 for each additional sibling (Siblings under the age of 1 are welcome and free!)
Recommended for young learners, ages 3–5 years, and their grownups.
NEW: Family Science Adventures for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Join us for hands-on science experiments and sensory-rich art projects in workshops specially designed for young children, ages 3 – 5, with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their parents and siblings.
These free workshops provide opportunities to enjoy family time at the museum in a welcoming, safe and understanding environment, allow parents to network with one another, and help families discover the wonder of science learning together.
Family Science Adventures for kids with differences include a small teacher to student ratio as students practice focusing/concentration, social cognition, collaboration/teamwork, listening/comprehension skills and more. Our trained educators are nurturing, caring, patient and interested in working with kids with differences. Each workshop is limited to 10 children on the spectrum. Workshops include a snack break with a healthy, diet restriction-conscious snack.
Registration is required.
