Join NYSCI in celebrating the premiere of Mosa Mack, a new animated show that features a young female science detective who exposes students to the thrill of learning while teaching critical and scientific thinking skills. Each date will feature screenings of a new episode, a Q+A with the creators, and activities and partner groups that speak to the themes in focus: climate change, photosynthesis and the food web. Screenings will be held every half hour from noon – 3 pm. Free with NYSCI admission.

Mosa MackPremiere: Climate Change
July 16, noon – 3 pm

Episode Summary:
As two young polar bears are getting ready for school, one of them stands on a cracking piece of ice and begins to drift away. After he jumps to safety, his worried mother bear calls Mosa Mack to solve the problem: why is ice melting in the Arctic? Mosa and her team are introduced to a theatrical weatherman and some cranky greenhouse gases who help her solve the mystery.

Episode Summary:
An unhealthy fern sulks at the bottom of the forest floor. She aspires to grow tall like the tallest tree in the forest, but she realizes something’s wrong: she’s not growing at all; she can’t repair her leaves; and she feels awful. Fern calls Mosa Mack for help. Mosa consults with a wise canopy layer and a singing chloroplast to help her solve Fern’s mystery.

Episode Summary:
Frank is a bullfrog who lives near a large temperate forest. He loves to chomp on crickets and worms, but hasn’t seen any around in days and he is hungry. Frank calls Mosa Mack to help him find some food before he croaks. Thankfully,a singing cricket and defiant earthworm help Mosa solve the mystery.
