Campaign for NYSCI

1964 – 2014: 50 Years of Science Education, Hands-On Exhibitions, and Signature Events

To mark our first half-century, NYSCI has launched a campaign to reimagine science education. Two new exhibitions and a suite of programs and research projects will engage all audiences in the experience of science. New digital applications will transform classrooms. Teacher professional development initiatives will inspire excellence. We will recruit young men and women from New York City’s five boroughs to become the next generation of leaders in science, technology, engineering, and math. We invite you to join the Campaign for NYSCI.

Science is more than formulas and abstract concepts. Science is hands-on, imaginative, inspirational and collaborative. NYSCI’s new models for open-ended, participatory science education replace traditional didactic approaches. Through active engagement, kids have the opportunity to identify and solve problems that matter to them, while developing key skills and gaining a sense of accomplishment. Our programs foster learning that is focused, yet playful, heightening creativity, exercising the imagination and unleashing a sense of possibility.
